Beast is Complete

BAM! Still looking for a space to block it... Right now the dining room table is looking promising. Looks like we'll be dining on TV trays for a few days...

The light at the end of the tunnel...

It's 6:15 a.m. I have two rows of the stockinette section to complete then the final border. Then the tail weaving in. Then the blocking. I had to buy a third skein of the grey. I bought 80 more t-pins for the blocking. I probably need 20 more blocking pads. The dogs went and had their nails trimmed yesterday. Car rides are always exciting for them because they usually end up in a McDonald's drive thru for a cheeseburger at some point. It's playoff Saturday so D will be headed to Century Link. I'll be hunkered down, warm and cozy at home. We have a big wind and rain storm blowing thru right now. Gust so strong they rattled the monster wind chime my mom gave me a few years ago... It must weigh 20 pounds. Happy Saturday!

Seahawk Socks!

I received this custom dyed Seahawk sock yarn from my friend Mary for Christmas. I started them on 12/28 and finished them at lunch today. Just in time for playoffs Saturday!

the jokes...

Your shawl is so big you can use it as a shrimping net. Your shawl is so big, Ringling Brothers wants it as a safety net. Your shawl is so big you can hide a tank behind it. Your shawl is so big you can use it as a full body straight jacket. Your shawl is so big it the Dream Lifter can use it as a parachute. Your shawl is so big it can keep the US Olympic Ski team warm. Your shawl is so big you can't knit across it without taking a cat nap. Your shawl is so big your friends think you've lost your mind. Highly likely. I'm seven rows into the last 20 rows of stockinette then I just have the border. I'm contemplating a stiff drink when it comes to ...

beast

As in yarn beast. This shawl cosumes yarn I'm keeping it clear of the stash lest I come home and find it gone. In 3 days it consumed a whole 220 yards for one section. I'm stunned. I bought an extra skein of grey and am realizing now that it won't be nearly enough. Not even close to enough. I have to go back to the yarn store. Not that that's going to be a problem for me. Maybe a problem for D. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to rent studio space to block this beast. I don't know that our king size bed is big enough. Plus I don't think I could convince D that we have to sleep in the guest room for a couple days. I know that bed isn't big enough for  blocking this monster. I can't wait till it's done. Honestly. I've always wanted a worsted weight blanket. I just went about it in a different manner. I think this shawl will be great for early Saturday mornings waiting for the heat to kick in. T...

Fear

I'm doing the Age of Brass & Steam knit-a-long with Americas Knitting over on our Ravelry Page. It's a quick knit and started January 1 and goes through January 31st so there is plenty of time for you to join in on the fun! Quick knit for everyone but this girl. I chose to do it on worsted weight. I chose to do it in three colors. I chose to add extra repeats. Three to be exact. It doesn't seem like a lot but when you increase four stitches on every right side and two stitches on every wrong side that sh#t adds up. Fast. I'm terrified of how many stitches are on my needles. I don't think I can count that high. I'm only starting the grey and have to do two full sections of it. Before I added the grey I felt like I was knitting a princess cake with the white and pink. The grey is a good anchor and I think it's going to be great in the end. The end... I'll probably need a whole day to do the bind off. Holy Guaca...

a year of knits...

Just when I thought I hadn't accomplished a thing this year... I looked at my finished projects.
