Great Things still come in SNAIL mail....

http://www.angoravalley.com/ What a fantastic site to buy yarn online! I ordered some yarn yesterday to knit a pair of socks for my mother. The yarn arrived today. That's right, ordered yesterday after lunch, arrived today before I had toast (9:30 a.m. for those of you who don't work with me). It's beautiful. It's springy to the touch and supremely fabulous, but since I've committed to a sock right now and Marcy is finishing her blackrose sock I am going to wait to start this sock for mom. Probably not too long since Marcy is in the home stretch and my sock can always be put down in order to do this one, PLUS I'm leaving for Italy in 2.5 weeks and I'm not going to be silly enough to not pack enough socks to entertain myself with while I sit on an airplane or relax in the hotel in the evenings. So, are you wondering what pattern Marcy and I have decided on this time? It's called Nutkin and it's a free patter on Knitzi, Not to be confused with Knitty. As long as I'm mentioning Knitty can I also mention that I'm going to add these fantabulous hats to my 'knitting to do' list. They are called Fishy. I also know that you are dying to see what sock I'm knitting right now, it's really has become my standby sock pattern. The Super Simple Short Sock by Radiant Twist it's really just the yarn that changes at this point. So without further writing here they are, the yarns and the partial sock.

This colorway is called Wild. I love it. I can't wait till I make it into
something fabulous for my feet.

This is called 'New Country' This is the colorway I chose for Mom and she agrees with me. She likes it. This will be come Nutkin

This is my next Super Simple Short Sock. I love the colors and the stripes are fabulous.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

I knit this sweater for Bump and had the buttons custom madefor it by Buttons by Robin, a wonderful shop on Etsy... She used a photo of Rupert that I emailed her...Rupert is their (Bump, C & M's) family dog... I couldn't post a photo until they had received the sweater which arrived on their doorstep last night... Oh how I wish I could have been there when they got it! It turned out amazing! Pattern: Baby Sophisticate Yarn: Big tweedy Cashmere (lucky boy) Please check out Robin's shop on Etsy I know you'll find buttons you love and she does amazing work!
