virginia the III

It's not my first but it's my favorite.........
Virginia Shawl designed by Kim Delacruz who I met when she originally emailed me to test the pattern for her. Not only did I develop a love for knitting shawls while testing I made a friend who I adore even though we are separated by 9 states....the more we talk the more we find we have in common which is fab. You can find the pattern for Virginia Shawl here. I'll give you the details of what I used because it's not what the pattern calls for.......I used Mushishi by Plymouth Yarn, and size 10.5 needles. I had to cut the last stockinette repeat and I only did 4 repeats of the lace border before I did the garter edge and bind off....trust me I was bringing it right down to the wire and had I done another repeat like I wanted a lot of bad bad words would have followed........Either way it's big, it's squishy, and it's all mine even though mom is talking about possibly releasing some of my shawls she's taken captive in order to get her paws on this one....clearly when I leave her house after Christmas I'll be rummaging through her goods...and instead of joking about having her chipped for her birthday I'll make sure I do it for real....it only hurts for a minute I'm sure....

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

Finished Object

I'm not good at keeping surprises a secret...I get so excited that I usually blow it. Well not this time... I knit this sweater for Bump and had the buttons custom madefor it by Buttons by Robin, a wonderful shop on Etsy... She used a photo of Rupert that I emailed her...Rupert is their (Bump, C & M's) family dog... I couldn't post a photo until they had received the sweater which arrived on their doorstep last night... Oh how I wish I could have been there when they got it! It turned out amazing! Pattern: Baby Sophisticate Yarn: Big tweedy Cashmere (lucky boy) Please check out Robin's shop on Etsy I know you'll find buttons you love and she does amazing work!

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?
