Progress Report;

I'm not sure why I chose that for the title........just those two words give me a stomach ache. I used to have really bad progress reports in school, really bad, and even though I'm no longer in school and mom is no longer getting progress reports in the mail quarterly I still shudder and tiny bit. There are other words from my teenage years that give me that feeling that I'm going to vomit but we'll gloss over that for now.  Oh well, I'm past it and now onto the real PG. Fatima, the shawl I'm knitting/designing at the same time is moving along. It started wtih a seed stitch edge and bottom border. Then I switched to slanted open work while maintaining the seed stitch edge. Now for the main body of the shawl, I chose a fountain pen lace pattern from my book. I've only done 2 repeats of it so far but I think it's going to be AMAZING. I will need to make some notes tonight, like how many stitches I started with and how many I have currently on the needles (fingers crossed that it's the same number)
We have a busy busy weekend ahead and I am hoping the weather holds. Saturday is morning chores, making a HUGE batch of my tortellini salad, possibly giving Ghetto Jepeto a bath, followed by a bithrday party for a friend.
Sunday is a car show at the Imagine Childrens Museum in Everett with all the race cars topped off with a Fathers Day dinner at Buca di Beppo! Green Beans here I come!

What's that you say? You want my Tortellini Recipe, well of course, here you go :)

Carmel's Tortellini Salad
1 pkg of cheese tortellini (fresh is best)
1 container of cherry tomatoes (whatever brand you like, I prefer the Cherubs)
1 Sugar snap peas in their shell (a lot of stores now have these packaged and prepared now which makes this step super easy)
Pesto - you can use your favorite brand, make your own, or as I do, use the powdered, and cook it up on the stove. Use it to taste.
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:
cook tortellini according to package directions, in the last minute of cooking add the snap peas, drain and rinse with cold water. Dump into a bowl
halve the cherry tomatoes and add to the bowl of tortellini and peas, add your pesto
Mix Mix Mix
Chill (but not before stealing a few bites of course)
It's good the first day
it's better the next day if it lasts that long!

alternative: Green Beans are also delicious but they have to be fresh and still crunchy!

Happy Friday

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

The countdown...

The Elbow has taken things a little to far. After three cortisone shots, icing, and squeezing exercises, it's just not behaving... Tuesday I went into the MRI tube do the Doc H. Could get a good look at what's going on...wear and tear is what's going on and it's only getting worse.. I can keep getting shots of cortisone but eventually they'll stop being as effective. Surgery will be the best option. That's right. SURGERY Wanna know the worst part? Recovery can take up to five months Five Months 5 FIVE months of no knitting... . . . I'll give you a second to get up off the floor... . . . You read that again didn't you? . . . my friend MzKimba has graciously offered to take care of my stash. However I think I'll just pack it all up and store it somewhere safe till I get the all clear from Doc H. Now all this being said, I have projects that need to be completed, so I'm going to try and schedule the surgery for som
