The Challenge

A Challenge for 2012 has been thrown down by my friend Kelly of Creating a Family Home.

The Challenge:

To Knit and Craft only from what we have stashed.
We can buy new yarn but can't use it...Well I found a loop hole (sorry Kelly)
I'm buying new yarn before the end of the year so it will be in my stash on New Years Day!
First project?
The Girlfriend Swing Coat for my friend Lindsay's daughter in a hot Azaela pink
You can purchase your own copy of the pattern here
It's designed by one of my top favorites, Wendy Bernard. Wendy's all about seamless knitting as much as possible...kindred spirit? definitley.
I hate seaming
I hate it so much that when I do a really nice one I actually photograph it to prove that i'm not horrible at it.
So the challenge is on and lucky for me I have a whole trunk of patterns with their yarn all ready to go for next year because really this was supposed to be my challenge for 2011 and clearly that didn't happen.

The trunk is coming out and it will be knit! With any luck I'll at least have a couple new cardigans by next Christmas...

Who's in?

Well, I love this idea, but I'd have to use the loophole, because I probably only have enough yard to knit two or three items before I run out. Now, if we were talking about scrapbook supplies...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

Finished Object

I'm not good at keeping surprises a secret...I get so excited that I usually blow it. Well not this time... I knit this sweater for Bump and had the buttons custom madefor it by Buttons by Robin, a wonderful shop on Etsy... She used a photo of Rupert that I emailed her...Rupert is their (Bump, C & M's) family dog... I couldn't post a photo until they had received the sweater which arrived on their doorstep last night... Oh how I wish I could have been there when they got it! It turned out amazing! Pattern: Baby Sophisticate Yarn: Big tweedy Cashmere (lucky boy) Please check out Robin's shop on Etsy I know you'll find buttons you love and she does amazing work!

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?
