First a brief history:
Boxing Day is a holiday traditionally celebrated the weekday or Saturday following Christmas Day, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts, known as a "Christmas box", from their masters, employers or customers,[1] in the United Kingdom, The Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Bermuda, New Zealand, Kenya, South Africa, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and other former British colonies. Today, Boxing Day is the bank holiday or public holiday that generally takes place on 26 or 27 December.
I did not know this about Boxing day. Actually I didn't know anything about Boxing day except that American's didn't celebrate it.
However, based on how much knitting I cracked out for christmas gifts this year I think it's fitting that I spent Boxing Day knitting something for me.
I have been itching to make this Moutnain Capelet since Purl Soho dropped the pattern a couple months ago.
In the midst of my knitting frenzy and the Lion Brand Wool-Ease yarn sale I stumbled upon, I bought the yarn to knit my capelet and its took every ounce of control not to cast that bad boy on and get it done.
Well, after the gym and lunch yesterday I hunkered down with my new TV streaming device, thanks to Dale, and cast on, and cast off this beautiful capelet.
The pattern is free.
It uses size 19 needles.
200 yards of Super Bulky Yarn, 238 if you adjust it like I did.
I made mine longer in order to fully cover the ladies. My frustration with items like this is that they end halfway down and look ridiculous.
So by adding 5 more inches I was very satisfied with where it was hitting on my body.
Now that the holidays are over and my mad rush knitting is cooling down I'm planning my projects for 2016, fully expecting that to go off the rails on January 3, 2016.
I also threw down a challenge to my friend Mary. I challenged her to log all her projects on Ravelry in 2016 and I would catalog my entire yarn stash in 2016.
Guess what I'll be doing next Sunday, January 3?
Happy Sunday
