The Adventures of Fred the Squirrel, Dino the Dinosaur and Friends

I'm running two Knit A-Longs this year for the America's Knitting Ravelry group.
One is designer focused.- January is focused on patterns designed by Espace Tricot
The other is toy focused.
January's toy focus is Mochimochi Land Toys by Anna Hrachovec.

So Saturday I knit a bowling ball and pin, Koala, and a Dragon. (the purple one is new and has been adopted by a friend) The little Black Heart Dragon I made a month or so ago. He loves Box Cat.

Sunday morning I did A Cat in a Box

Followed by a football for D.

Then I knit a Squirrel.
The cutest little squirrl you'll ever see.
So tiny and sweet with a big squishy tail.
He loves our nut bowl. It feels like home.

Then he needed a friend for adventures so I knit a tiny dinosaur from her book Teeny Tiny MochiMochi.

This is where the adventure begins.

I should have never played with Theo with them.
It was just too damn cute to stop though.

Meeting Fred

Then Dino

friendly face off
Then it was time for bed.
Monday morning I woke up and I couldn't find them.
Worse I couldn't remember putting them somewhere safe for the night before we all laid down to go to sleep. I pulled out my nightstand drawers. emptied the knitting bag. pulled back the bedding as much as possible since D was still asleep.
Couldn't find them anywhere.
So I figured, crap, Theo ate them. Figured they were small enough that they would make their way thru their own Fantastic Voyage and come out the other end somewhat intact.

So I laughed about it all day. Worried a little but honestly after living with Mr. Brown and all the things he consumed I wasn't super worried about two little squishy knit toys gobbled up by Theo.

I arrived home.
I expected he either vomited them up in his crate (preferred method of retrieval) or I was going to make every one uncomfortable watching them take care of business.

As we walked down the back steps into the yard something bright and flashy caught my eye.

Could it be?

It was Dino!

It was Fred!

Theo had taken them outside the night before and tried to set them free.

The needed a good scubbing but they survived the ordeal splendidly.

I so glad it wasn't an internal tour of the workings of Theo.

So I popped them in a warm bubble bath to swim about, knock the dirt and chill off them they put them to bed on the fireplace mantel to dry.

Today they came to work with their friends.
Box Cat stayed home to nap guarded by Black Heart Dragon.

The End.

ps; I won't lie. If Fred and Dino had taken the Fantastic Voyage and re-emerged via Theo's exit. I was seriously debating if I would rescue them and clean them up or just throw them away.

Thank God we'll never know what I would have done!

I love the story, and I am so glad you were able to retrieve them. They might not have survived in the wild. They like to be pampered and cared for.

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

Spring Cleaning = no VK Live

I don't get a cleaning bug often. I truly dislike it. I would rather knit than scrub a toilet or polish something... But it happens that I get the urge to purge (too much listening to the Top Gun soundtrack this weekend) and when the momentum is high and lasts three days I won't fight it... I can't. Plus I probably saved at least $250.00 by not going to a knitting expo! Have you ever done a big ruthless purge on your stuff? You can learn a lot about who you are or who you have been... 1. I apparently have an affection for lined notebooks and notepads considering I've counted 17 in my living room alone. 2. I easily have 50+ knitting books on my shelf and have only knit one pattern from one of them. 3. 2011 I was a grumpy snot at Christmas. So grumpy I didn't even open any Christmas cards. I didn't thrown them out either apparently... I'll open them later today. 4. My sister-in-law M gives me some pretty awesome gifts. Funny notebooks (o...

quirks, questions, and things best remembered......

1. Two bads never ever equal a better. 2. Muffins or Cupcakes I will always eat the top last. D thought it would be funny one time to teach me a lesson regarding this little nuance of my behavior, so at a party he sees my cupcake top sitting on my plate and he walks by and quick stuffs it in his mouth. He said it was to teach me a lesson, but I think we all know who learned a lesson that night. 3. While it is always to have good oral hygiene habits for both man and beast alike I would like to strongly caution you against keeping the beasts tooth paste next to your own toothpaste. Trust me when I say the beast will get much more enjoyment from your toothpaste gracing his brushes bristles than you will trying to do a massive mouthwash flush of poultry flavored peppermint paste. Learn from my mistake...... 4. I always feel sorry for people who I either happen to be talking to or emailing at the moment my medication kicks in. It can't be fun, but you all are such good sports about it. ...
