Growing...

Bump is reaching the age when he will be allowed to have a blanket in his crib. In a round-about way he hinted that he would love a nice cozy knit blanket for the cool Minnesota nights to come. Who am I to refuse? As a knitter isn't it my sworn duty to ensure that those I am close to and love are swaddled in wooly warmth? I think it's going to be great... I think he's pretty excited as well!

Camping Part I

Getting there... Washington state is amazing. The Cascade Mountain range creates two totally different climates in one state. The west side, where I live, gets most of the rain and therefore is vet lush and green. I'm going to throw some science at you so hold on... In order for the clouds to get over the mountains they drop all their moisture to gain elevation this creating a lush green environment on one side and a more arid desert like environment on the eastern side... It's always warmer there in the summer and colder in the winter. The pictures below are us crossing the mountains last week on our way to Banks Lake for our annual group camping trip. I get a lot of knitting done when we cross over the pass....

Chemistry...

It's not my thing. I'm taking an anatomy course for work. (long boring story) I just finished the chapter on Chemistry. This was one of the questions on the test... I was supposed to pin point the reactant...instead I had this reaction. Below is a self portrait of me banging my head on my desk... Now on to Cells and Tissues.

Photo-a-Day Challenge

Day 11: Someone I Love. My mom. Photo was taken 2years ago in Paris in a little cafe.

Baby Socks...

Almost done with the second one. I would love to tell you what yarn I'm using but it's a ball I acquired in a stash exchange and it was just an odd bit of leftover sock yarn. It's a beautiful brown, incredibly soft, and perfect for BW's arrival!

Never say that again...

About 12 years ago I had surgery. The incision became infected and landed me back at the hospital where the doctor suggested re-opening said incision. In a quivering voice I asked 'you're going to numb it right?' Dr.: it's infected, you won't feel the cut. I'm pretty sure I started to black out at this point from shear panic. Thank goodness for the intern who patted my hand and said 'don't worry, I'll get you all numbed up.' I still remember the fear and anger I felt that a doctor would allow me to feel any pain when it is well within his power to make sure I feel zero pain. Fast forward to 8/6/2012: Scene: dentist office Visit: filling Tech: 'you aren't going to want novocaine are you? Dr. B doesn't usually numb for these types of fillings.' First let's highlight the fact that I didn't run for the door leaving a me shaped hole in it as I raced for the car. Me to the tech: not only do I want to b
