The Retreat is Coming!

You know what I'm talking about. The knitting retreat that I attend each year. It's early this year and it's longer! I have a whole bin packed with yarn to knit and projects that need tails woven in, and possibly a botto of gin in there as well. We all know the gin is there.  Possibly some white wine, maybe a zesty rose. I can't fool you, those will all be there as well.  I'm so excited. I'm in a frenzy of pattern printing and project planning. So, with all the tails that will be woven, and projects blocking, maybe, just maybe I'll get the Finished Objects post I keep promising. Seriously. There is so much to show you that it's ridiculous. Camera: Packed 1. Yarn: Packed 2. Blocking Pins: Packed 3. Blocking Pads: ummm... they are in the knitting room somewhere 4. Patterns: Printed 5. Needles: Mostly packed need to double check a couple 6. Wool-ite: Honey, I'm stopping at the drug store today! 7. Clothes to wear: well, the

Happily Ever After

Meet Phoebe Phoebe is the newest member of our family.  I know I said I was going to wait before bringing a new Boxer home, but I then I looked on the Washington Boxer Rescue Site  I saw Phoebe  I read Phoebes story  I knew we had to at least give her a try.  Two days after we brought her home for the trial run we knew.  We knew deep in our hearts that this girl belonged with us and that we would be her forever home.     Phoebe is a 6 year old reverse brindle boxer girl.  She had a very bad beginning the first two years of her life.  The last four years she's been with Washington Boxer Rescue learning that not all humans are horrible, that not everyone wants to hurt her, and that it's okay to accept and give love.  She continues to learn that in our home.  She's learning that we aren't going to take the toys away.  That Mr. Brown couldn't give two rips about the babies.  They are learning to do things togeth

Finished Object: Stovetop Hat

What the What? A finished object post? Seriously? I mean, I have finished A LOT of stuff but just haven't had time to post it all... That is changing right now! I finished something and by golly I'm posting it here today. See, I didn't give up knitting. September was crazy. As crazy as that out of control jacked up cable up there... I fixed it the next morning October has been extra crazy with my job and the release of a new code set that is turning my brain to squish. But, now I have a sweet sweet hat to conceal the squish and prepare me for winter. Normally I would be sporting my hats come fall but I was at the pumpkin patch yesterday and even though it was raining it was about 63 degrees... not hat weater. Not even cozy sweater and boots weather... So. Back to why I'm here... I am posting a finished object for you all to see, and love, and buy, and knit a gazillion of for everyone in your world. Why? Because I'm cool like tha

Welcome to the Fall Classic

A huge car race in Eastern Washington that D is racing in. We arrived Friday night and got to the race track at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. There is a lot of down time till all of the sudden they are calling for you to line up and then it's crazy. D racing is incredibly nerve-wracking for me. I never go in the stands to watch because when fans cheer at wrecks it sends me over the edge. The words you never want to here is 'a car hit the wall, I didn't see D drive thru' Want to see me run? Say that. I hurdled and wove my way to the front stretch then I saw him pull in the pit area. He races. I knit. We support each other's hobbies. And while I do help him on the car, I won't let him help with the knitting. Here's to a safe race today. Thank goodness I have plenty of yarn for the downtime...
