SallyCat

SallyCat lives in beautiful Naples, Florida. Specifically, Sally came with the house my mom and her husband bought. Since the new owners, mom & G, took over things have gotten better for SallyCat. Regular feedings. Morning and Evening Fresh salmon is served often. A soft bed for the front porch. A trip to the vet, where it was discovered that SallyCat is not a pretty girl but a handsome boy. I'm sure the fact that we keep referring to her/him as a pretty girl isn't confusing. Oh, and SallyCat is now allowed in the house. She/he prefers the white room. I believes she/he finds it soothing. All in all I think SallyCat has found herself/himself a first rate B&B...

M.I.A>

It's where I'll be for the rest of the week! It's a good thing it's this thing called vacation. I believe there will be warm ocean breezes White sand beaches and sun so warm you'll forget that things like rain, sleet, snow, and ice ever existed. Fresh Seafood so delicious it's almost sweet. Bike rides and walks Shopping and most importantly... I get to see my mom every day for a solid week so I'm going to just soak her up to carry me through all the times I'm not near her! Happy Sunday!! p.s. I finished my Linden Mitts and they are fantastic, however it's not logical to model them in a tropical place without my hands breaking out in heat rash... Stay Tuned!

Remembering...

I don't know what karmic cosmic angels were flitting around today but they led me to the coffee aisle at the grocery store. More specifically it led me to the international moments. Which led me to thoughts of my grandmother. I loved her. I knew deep in my bones that she loved me. Grandma loved her International Moments coffees. Just smelling them. Holding the tin (though it's different now) Brings back memories of being with my grandma. She said these were her special treat and she'd make one for me to. Grandma made the best fresh blackberry pie. I know they were fresh because when she came to visit us in Bellevue she'd make us help her pick blackberries. She was the master of Christmas cookies, chocolate chip cookies and raspberry freezer jam. I make freezer jam from time to time and it reminds me of summer visits to Boise. Helping grandma in her garden, making sun tea, and smelling her roses. Sometimes, I buy a tin of Interna

My Heart & Happiness

Wip!

I'm doing the Linden Mitten KAL on Jane Richmonds Ravelry page. This perfect for me for a few reasons 1. I've always wanted fingering weight mittens. 2. I love self striping yarn. 3. The pattern is genius. I have 2 more balls of this and I'm guarding it with my life. More on that later. It's Vogue Knitting Live this weekend in Bellevue Wa. Unfortunately I won't be attending again this year due to other commitments. Mostly Birthday Dinner, final regular season hockey game, hair appointment, St. Patricks day dinner Sunday night, prepping for a visit with mom, etc., etc., Somewhere in there I'll clean the house and sleep... Happy Friday All!!!

Buttons...

Mr. Brown here, Carmel can't type right now. She is currently collapsed on the floor in a fit of excitement over these buttons that arrived in the mail today. I hope she gets up soon. I'm hungry. Let me check... Nope. Still in a heap giggling, clutching the buttons in one hand and the baby sweater in another. I'm going to go sit on her. Hopefully she'll regain her senses by tomorrow. I'm still hungry.

Freezerritos!

Everyone has a variation of freezer burritos and after reading many of the recipes I decided that it couldn't be simpler. I should have prefaced this by, I really dislike the time consuming task of packing up lunch and breakfast for myself and D every day, but it's worth it because we eat better food and feel better. Enter the Freezerrito. You can crack out about 12 of these suckers in about 40 minutes. That includes cooking the eggs and whatever breakfast meat you want to add. Week one I used Jimmy Deans breakfast sausage. Week two (currently) I had a bunch of bacon that needed to be used so that's what I put in them. I prefer sausage in my freezerrito I've decided. Other add ins Salsa Green Onion Cheddar Cheese Freezerrito Recipe: You'll need foil for wrapping Ziploc freezer bag so they aren't rolling all around the freezer. a couple sprays of non-stick cook spray 12 Whole Wheat 8 inch tortllas 12 eggs well beaten 1lb of break

Hey...

Whatcha doin' down here?

Finished Object: Poppy

I started this last Friday night and knew I wanted to get it to Beans by the next hockey game which was last night... I was embroidering the fave at dinner and she kept looking down the table at me trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. She's pretty cute and I adore her to pieces. The doll turned out almost as cute as Beans! I did have on minor error by the time we met for dinner last night... I had forgotten to sew the hoohaa shut and all I had on me was pink yarn... So we're somewhat anatomically correct. I laughed and laughed when I realized my mistake. Here are the finer points of the project. Details: Pattern: Poppy by Ysolda Teague Yarn: cascade 220 superwash for dress and body. Hair is just some brown I found. Needles: size 3 I'm so smitten with her I might need to make one for myself!

Poppy

My hockey date, who I didn't get to see last night because of this horrid cold, loves to touch my knit cowls, scarves and hats. As soon as I am holding her she's got them grasped in her little hands, rubbing her sweet little face on them and just touching them, examining the stitches. Makes my knitting heart sing. It's also inspired me to finally knit Poppy by Ysolda Teague. I'm using cascade 220 superwash for the body. I need to find some brown for her hair and I already have the pink for her dress and shoes... Moms probably thanking the heavens above that there aren't any leaves in this post. (I'm still knitting them, I'm just taking a break)
