Proud Moment...

I did it. You guys... I DID IT. I figured out where I was in Peerie Flooers. I figured out my color card with wine* I made a lot of progress last night watching Friends. The dpn is marking where I left off four years ago and you can see how much got done last night. Side note: I have never ever watched the final episode of Friends. I can't bring myself to do it. Yes I know the show ended 14 years ago. I will cry though. I will cry like no one should cry at the end of a series. Like I cried at the series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My husband loves to tell people I cried for the whole two hours. Back to the PF and my glorious glorious glow of accomplishment. I finished knitting it. I only had eight rounds to go when I set it down last night like the responsible early rising adult I strive to be in this world. I should point out I knit at lunch again so... It's off the needles!!! No poof on this. I do not want to hide this crown I'

We Just Blew Thru Fair-Isle Friday...

By the time I realized I had missed posting Fair-Isle Friday it was Sunday Morning. So I thought 'I'll just combine FIF with Weekend Rewind' and it'll be an extra long photo heavy post. Well, as you can see, I missed the 'Weekend Rewind' post also. Oh well. I'm making up for it now. Which is really a bonus because I have so much Fair-Isle stuff to show you. I have my finished second Epistropheid. I have two finished Boston Flip hats that are being shipped to Idaho land of the cold for one of the cutest couples I know... (I'm wholly basing the cuteness of the couple on my girlfriend in said couple because she is one of the bright lights in my world and someday I'll meet the lucky man who married her) Then, last night I did a deep dive. DEEP dive into the stash trying to find yarn for one project and ended up with a Fair-Isle I started four years ago. FOUR. YEARS. However. The pattern with my color card and notes was gone. Weekend Rewind

It was a three day weekend. Two hockey games. Extra day to sleep in on Monday. Olympics on T.V. A little snow. And a cold/flu virus that has some serious staying power. Just when I think I've beat it down it gives me a slap and says 'nope, not yet, sit down and rest' Heal. Just in case I didn't listen, my body slapped me with a migraine that last the whole weekend and was immune to all my regular remedies. So I rested. I watched the Olympics. Mens Aerial and Oleksandr Abramenko from the Ukraine winning gold! Had to be my favorite event this weekend. What an amazing competition.  Oleksandr Abramenko's Gold Winning Jump side note: how does a person wake up one morning and think 'that's my mission in life. Hurl myself down a ski slope on long skiis, launch into the air and do a crazy number of flips, twists, turns, and nails that landing'  I honestly admire them. I'm in awe of them. I loved the Snow Board Cross. Half Pipe

Fair-isle Friday! Epistropheid I and II

I know I posted a finished object post about my first Epistropheid on Saturday BUT it wasn't really complete. Know why? Because it was missing the most amazing PomPom ever. We all know my love of PomPoms. If you need a review you can venture back to 2015 when I made 75 assorted PomPoms for a little girls birthday present. Operation PomPom was amazing. Or the year I couldn't remember where I put my Christmas Decorations so I went to Michaels and bought a PomPom maker and decorated my tree that way. This PomPom is not made of yarn. * It's fur PomPom . Its fluffy and lovely and perfection on the top of my first Epistropheid. I started a second Epistropheid. I ordered a matching PomPom for that as well. This pattern is fun. It comes out beautifully. I highly recommend it especially if you are just getting into fairisle knitting and the idea of handling multiple colors in a project is overwhelming. Epistropheid calls for two colors. Not o

Epistropheid by Kate Davies It's having a good soak right now and I've ordered a pompom to top it off with. I have wanted to knit this pattern since Kate released it. Bought the yarn specifically for this pattern from Firwood Farms Alpacas to knit it three years ago. Fingers crossed for a few more cold mornings so I can wear it!

The Year of the Fairisle

I don't know why I suddenly got this urge at the end of 2017 to do a year of fairisle hats in 2018. I even made a list of 12 hats plus eight backups. Then someone over on America's Knitting Ravelry group suggested I do it as a monthly Knit-a-long. So there you go. Each month I'll knit a hat. I'll run a KAL on the America's Knitting Ravelry group. At the end of 2018 I'll have knit at least 12 hats. However. This is 'me' were talking about. Things can go off the rails fast. Especially when you start deep diving into the world of Fairisle patterns. So now we've added 3 pullovers, 1 cardigan, 1 stuffed animal, a cowl, and 6 more hats. January I knit the Basic Norwegian Star Hat  I used 1 skein of cascade 220 in grey and one ball of Knit Picks Chroma in Galapagos. I think the colorway transitioned nicely thru the pattern. I sent this to my mom back in Minnesota. I hope it arrived in time to keep her nugget warm. February I cast
