Waiting...

Finished Object:

Eeeeeek! It's done! (I still have tails to weave but they are tucked in for now) C&M are keeping the babies name a secret till he arrives so for now I'll refer to him as Baby Whool (hoo-ll) because lets be honest...he's going to be covered in it from day 1... So B.W. Enjoy your tummy time sweater! Stay tuned for the next item in BW's line up!

Verbiage

Having friends in various stages of motherhood has definitely expanded my vocabulary...especially my friends with newborns. My favorite term is 'tummy time' Which is probably why this sweater for C&M's future off spring has appealed to me do much! It's perfect for tummy time! Fitted like a shrug so that buttons pr bulky baby cables don't push uncomfortably on baby. Nice long sleeves and the long back to keep babies back warm while it has 'tummy time'. It's also perfect for snuggling with mom and dad... The self striping yarn was the perfect choice. The higher the number of stitches the more narrow the stripes. At the top where I was increasing every-other-row they are narrow. Take off for the sleeves and they balance out for the rest of the body. The sleeves have less stitches still which made those stripes extra wide. Babies look awesome in stripes. I can't wait to see the Offspring in this tummy time sweater! Pattern is Newborn Ver

Dear Mr. Brown

You'll be 10 years old soon. A fact that saddens me as well as brings me joy. Joy because that means I've had you in my life almost nine years. Sadness because I can see your age in your face, if not your behavior. You've always been fond of foraging for your food whether it be coffee grounds from the garbage can to used Kleenex. Your preference being the brand with Vicks in it... I've heard you in summers past crunching the hard green cherry things in the back yard late in the evenings. I've shared fresh tomatoes and pineapple tidbits with you as well. A lover of food you are. Picky you are not. So it might come as a shock. What I'm about to say. I can't say I'm pleased with your latest snack of choice. Although looking at it from your point of view there is an abundance of it due to our damp weather of late... I'm just going to ask one thing... Please don't bring your slug snacks in the house or we're going to

Happy Fathers Day...

This is my dad. This photo was taken at my wedding reception while he was giving a little toast. When I think of my dad though I think if the time when I was little...probably about four or five, sitting with him at our round kitchen table early in the morning before he would leave for work. No one else would be awake, it would just be the two of us. He would make me hot chocolate to drink while he had his coffee... I think that moment 34 years ago is what formed in me my delight of waking up before the whole house and sitting quietly, drinking coffee, as I do now as an adult. Happy Fathers day to all the fathers in my life!

Details to come...

The search for buttons starts tomorrow...for now the first sweater for C&M's new addition is done.

And the day after. Not necessarily in that order.

A Little Belated Thank You...

To my brother, Margie, and Bump for the wonderfully whimsical birthday gift...Every time I look at it I smile. From left to right we have A hippo Factory, A Rainbow making factory, a ghost making factory and what I like to think of as my floating house...There is a dog in the Hippo making factory, he guards it from wild hyenas. Thank you again! I love it!

thinking...

About knitting another Multnomah Shawl by designer Kate Ray... I'm also thinking it'll be striped... I'm also thinking I can't wait to get it started and finished so I can wrap it around me!

Always...

I always feel a little sadness when I wrap up a knitted gift to give away. You spend so much time with the project and the joy you feel when it's all done and put together is hard to put into words... I have a harder time with knitted toys because they take on a personality as they come together. All the sadness however is replaced with joy when you see the look on the recipients face as they open their gift. I can't wait to see Boyfriend's face, as well as his parents, when he opens up his gift today and see's Jerry. Happy Sunday! Carmel

No words can convey the joy I feel in having this done! Just in time for Boyfriends birthday hootenanny tomorrow! Pattern: Jerry the Musical Monkey Designer: Rebecca Danger Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Needles: size 8

W.I.P

Boyfriend turned 1 year old on 5/30 and he is having a big birthday hootenanny this weekend. Since Boyfriends dad loves monkeys and Boyfriend seems to love them as well it makes sense that I would knit him a monkey...and the obvious choice was Jerry the Musical Monkey by designer Rebecca Danger a local Washingtonian! I ran out of stuffing partway through the head last night so I foresee a stop at HL (hobby lobby) this afternoon for more! I'll post the finished monkey later along with some of him and Boyfriend this Sunday when they finally meet! Happy Friday! p.s. Damien has been Boyfriend to me since the first day I met him, his mom calls me his girlfriend...
