learn something new.......

I am a firm believer that you should learn something new every day, even if it's something trivial. This is why I listen to talk radio and news podcasts. For the most part all I hear is blah blah blah but every once in a while something will catch my ADD addled brain and snap me to look at the radio, grab one of my internet capable devices and google like a mad person. Bazinga! Sometimes you figure out something that never made sense before, that is learning something new. wanna know what I learned yesterday? I don't like to eat off of three tined forks. Happy Monday

just around the corner..........

Turn the bend too quickly and we might miss it.....March is looming upon us and with it the promise of spring. Daffodils are starting to pop up all over the neighborhood, the tulips are making their way up as well....I have one Pansy that has held on thru the entire winter gamely in my porch flower box and while I continue to knit on wool and warm things for babies and adults alike my thoughts start drifting towards the spring pattern collection that are showing up all over the place.......all that being said.......... It's been snowing off and on for two days here. I'm pretty sure that my Pansy has drawn it's last breath as it was buried in yet another pile of snow I have no faith that the daffodils in my yard will bloom (it's possible that I forgot to plant the bulbs but for now I'll blame mother nature and squirrels if they don't come up) and it's a balmy 23 degrees farenheit outside today My Sweet Vermouth can't get done fast enough.

No words........

Random Saturday.......

1. I have a long weekend since our office is closed on Monday. 2. I received an invitation to a party this sunday......location: my house 3. Since I am having party tomorrow today I have to clean instead of think up an excuse to sit in my chair and knit. 4. I think that because Mr.Racer has a race car he shouldn't pick on me for buying yarn. 5. When my dogs are hungry you would think that I haven't ever fed them consistently for the past 7 years. 6. Tomorrow is the Daytona 500 and so the race season begins. 7. I am in love with my current project 8. Mr. Racer is sighing so I have to go now Happy Saturday

is it a sign....

That I've entered a new stage in life where my conversation with my mom right now consisted of her telling me about the dogs peeing everywhere and me telling her that I had a lot to tell her but couldn't remember what, and that I'm saving the Ice Wine she gave me till we have our good friends over for dinner but for the life of me I couldn't remember their names........I do now but the conversation is over, so I'm wondering, is this how it's going to be? am I screwed? Have I knit my brain into a state of complete complexity that I can't remember simple things like the names of a couple who we not only attended many footballs games with but have had dinner with many many times? Mom says that I have to serve the Ice Wine when we have company because I can't drink the whole bottle myself......... wanna bet? happy friday P.S. Mom, I won't drink the whole bottle myself I promise.

Sweet Vermouth

Here is the photo of my scarf designed by Thea Coleman.. I am absolutley in love with it........it might be the yarn but I think a big part of it is the beautifuL slipped stitches with the cable. What do you think? Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

it has been brought to my attention.............

That I may knit to much.....that I may be 'obsessive' about my knitting, that maybe if I didn't knit so much there would be other things that I would like to do. It's possible that Mr. Racer is leading up to a knitting intervention. Lets review the definition of 'Intervention' as found here An intervention is an orchestrated attempt by one, or often many, people (usually family and friends) to get someone to seek professional help with an addiction or some kind of traumatic event or crisis, or other serious problem. The term intervention is most often used when the traumatic event involves addiction to drugs or other items. Intervention can also refer to the act of using a technique within a therapy session. Interventions have been used to address serious personal problems, including, but not limited to, alcoholism, compulsive gambling, drug abuse, compulsive eating and other eating disorders, self-mutilation, tobacco smoking, "workaholism", and va

I couldn't resist............

Happy Valentines Day..............

do you ever...........

walk outside in the wee hours of morning getting ready to head off to work listening to the loud echoing click click clicketty clack of your heels on pavement, hear a rustling noise in the bushes somewhere behind you, quickly pick up the pace to get to the car faster, hit the lock button that sounds the horn just once hoping to scare whatever it is that is coming for you, hop in the car all higgedly piggedly bags upended as you hurl them to the passenger seat in an effort to shut the door, hit the lock, and breath at the same time only too see Cooter, the resident raccoon and his family heading home after a night of gallavanting through the sewers and as you breath a sigh of relief say to yourself.......Phew thank goodness it wasn't a vampire yeah, Me either :)

How to Kill a Cold in 7.5 hours........

- 1 dose of Mucous Medicine - 1 hot steamy bath - liberally spread Vicks Vapor Rub all over your chest....You could ask your partner to help with this part if you want but if you looked like me they will turn you down flat......Quintus on the other hand finds it a treat and will gladly lick the waxy substance from your hands..... - humidifier aimed directly at your face for maximum moisture - one solid slug of NightTime Medicine....the pill form won't do it, you have to drink the liquid at this point I recommend putting down the baby legwarmers with the mock cable or a series of events will transpire that you can't recover from....(you probably could but not until the medicine wears off) My mistake was doing the 'mock' cable in the wrong spot.......funny now my mistake is 'mock'ing me HAHAH I don't think the drugs have worn off yet.....

Must Haves for any Happy Home.....

Some of these will of course be obvious but maybe there will be something you've never thought would count 1. Frozen Waffles: convenient, delicious and always available especially if you don't live near a waffle house. 2. Champagne: duh, one should always have a bottle or two ready to pop 3. A dog or two: a. they love unconditionally and will listen while you talk making you sound less crazy than if you had a pet snake. 4. Salted Butter: because salt is good, butter is good, together on the frozen waffles is heaven 5. Yarn: Even if you don't knit (which I still don't understand the people who don't) using it as a centerpiece invites warmth and happy thoughts into your home. I reserve the right to revise this list at any time especially given that I'm on day five of my cage fighting match with unknown viral apponent and the only thing getting me through is the frozen waffles with salted butter and syrup, and probably the heavy shot of brandy in my hot choc

from sickness springs finished objects

but alas I have no energy to be witty or enlightening today......so enjoy the finished photos, and picture of Gabby Pouting because instead of entertaining her I was finishing these, and oh yes, a project yet to be......

pictures.....

the Prozac pill I made for mom for her birthday......needs lots of water Thre the knothole in the fence last fall wondering where I went.......Gabby of course at the ready.... I had to show you a picture of the rock I bought in Paris.......it's not anything special unless you count the fact that I paid like 8. euros for a rock stamped with 'oui' on it........

knitted goodness.......

I'm on a baby knitting kick lately with so many friends expecting wee ones or having just had a wee one therefore I've forged a new path for 2011 knitting that has nothing to do with me and everything to do with the rest of MY world......which is fine because it's not in my nature to with hold all that is soft warm and fuzzy from little ones who we can force into knitwear because they haven't yet learned the art of saying NO! I don't expect to be on this kick for long since I do have some things I have to get done for myself and I am anxious to get started on them.....However, here is where I am at with the knitting for the babes.......Yesterday I started a little shrug for Elaina and I am almost done with that...you can find the pattern for $4.50 here . I received a photo text the other day of my Nephew Dog Rupert and apparently he is trying to steal Margie's cowl that I made her for Christmas.......He looks so dashing in it that I think I'm going to have

Thursday.........

it is Thursday right? I feel like I have had one of those weeks where it's gone on longer than it should and there is no end in site.....possibly because I spent 2.5 hours of it sitting at the car dealership service department waiting for Ghetto Jepeto's window to be fixed......it was over $400.00 for that little bit alone so I think my campaign to convince D that it's time for a new car is going to have to take a back burner for a while......especially since GJ still runs great and we have an understanding.....and the receptionist at the car dealership is entertaining. The big positive of the 2.5 hours is that I got some quality knitting done on a very long I-cord and thus finished off baby present #1. I am in a debate as I'd I want to do the matching hat or find another hat pattern to use with the same yarn but we'll see......in the mean time I started a baby shrug for Little Elaina that is moving along quite well and I have some sleeves to finish for Miss Frances

the big disappointment.........

You spend oodles of time knitting up warm wooley socks for your very dearest friends new baby girl.....love, thought, and giddiness go into the finishing and grafting of the toe, you wrap them up, package them for shipping weigh it, afix proper postage, pop those little things in the mail and wait.......wait for the comment on Facebook saying they arrived, how wonderful they are, or even better a text message with a photo showing little baby feet in little wooley socks with chubby baby legs......and wait....wait....and wait only to discover a week and a half after you mailed them that the postage machine lied because the package is back in your hot little hands, the baby feet have no wooley goodness and you need to fork over more cash because a machine couldn't hold up its end of the deal.......So Megan and Elaina, I apologize for the postage machine, clearly it didn't realize the value of the package it was weighing and was just screwing with me that day....the proper postage

simply put......

Happy Birthday to my mom today.........my favorite person in the whole world. We don't always see eye to eye but that's okay because sometimes the view is better at a different level......... (I know I've used this photo before but it's a favorite of mine of just the two of us.........)
