the final stretch........

it's christmas eve and i have a slew of stuff to do.........which explains why when i am even on vacation i set my alarm and get my butt out of bed at 5:30 in the morning...so here is what's left to do and only today to do it in....
1. knit at least 2 more hats to give as gifts tomorrow morning
2. finish D's race car slippers which includes sewing, so that explains why they have been 75% done until today when the pressure is high and I have to knit 8 i-cord tires to sew on as well, if i don't get them done, his whole gift will flop in a bad way.
3. i still have to buy at least 2 gifts for people.
4. help mom cook dinner which thanks to Chef Michael in Scottsdale the main course just needs to be popped in the oven......Chef Michael is wonderful, i've taken a few cooking classes from him with mom......So, bless you Chef Michael for the air express Beef Wellington that arrived yesterday in the mail with the special sauce and a big thanks to Curtis for his homemade from scratch chocolates that can cause a brawl at the table if you get your hand between mom and the chocolates :)

It's crisp, it's cold and its Christmas Eve, I am with my family enjoying the snow, enjoying Bird and Bear, looking forward to seeing the Pony Dog Rupert and my brothers and their wives..........I saw my very best friend yesterday and her adorable new baby girl Peanut who would have let me cuddle her for hours and if I could have I would have.....plus I got to see Megan's mom Pam again, a woman who helped me out during a hard time, listened when i had a problem, and most important taught me to moisturize, and she still looks the same 10 years later......

Happy Christmas Everyone!
Remember, it's not about the gifts you give or receive but that the people you are with are the greatest gift in your life and everything else is just a decoration.......

one more shot of coffee and i'm going to knit the hell out of some i-cord tires

Love you Carmel! So glad you were able to come out to our house for the afternoon. I would also like to say my mom (aka Pam) also smokes; which is supposed to age you, however because of the moisturizer (with sunscreen) she still looks the same after 10 years! Okay - it's also the vitamins she takes every day as well! I'm hoping NONE of that has anything to do with it and it's all genes.... *giggle*

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

The countdown...

The Elbow has taken things a little to far. After three cortisone shots, icing, and squeezing exercises, it's just not behaving... Tuesday I went into the MRI tube do the Doc H. Could get a good look at what's going on...wear and tear is what's going on and it's only getting worse.. I can keep getting shots of cortisone but eventually they'll stop being as effective. Surgery will be the best option. That's right. SURGERY Wanna know the worst part? Recovery can take up to five months Five Months 5 FIVE months of no knitting... . . . I'll give you a second to get up off the floor... . . . You read that again didn't you? . . . my friend MzKimba has graciously offered to take care of my stash. However I think I'll just pack it all up and store it somewhere safe till I get the all clear from Doc H. Now all this being said, I have projects that need to be completed, so I'm going to try and schedule the surgery for som
