Finished Objet

I finished this before I went to Minnesota but It was blocking and then I had all those nasty tails to weave in and still hadn't found buttons. So while I was packing for our trip, I unpinned it and slammed it into the suitcase figuring I'd find the buttons there. Boy did I! They are perfect as you can see in the picture. So without further adieu here are the stats facts and general 'what you need to know' about this project.

Pattern: Shawl Collared Cowl by Alana Dakos
Yarn: Prism Merino 12 in Lipstick (2 hanks)
Needle sizes: 8 and 9
Pattern Love: Awesome
Recommendation: If you are knitting this, and I think you all should, in fact go and try all of Alana's patterns, make sure that you or the recipient has a long neck. Not freakishly long, but if you have a stump like mine then this will just look silly when you put it on....my sister in law M looked fantastic in it.

It is a wonderful pattern, contstructed with minimal short row shaping, easy to follow instructions, and wonderful graphics to entertain the wandering eyes. All the graphics on Alana's patters are done by Knitterella and I recommend that you hop on over and see her other work and visit her supply shop for gift tags, note pads, and project bags. Her work is hilarious and says all the things we want to say but don't want to sound churlish. I also recommend following her blog as well, she is funny, witty and full of great ideas.

I have many many more works in progress and other's rolling in my head. Lots of big events coming in the next year that require full on knitted goodness!!
Happy Friday

Question for all of you..........Have any of you tried making Cake Balls yet? I'm curious on how they work......

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

I'm not good at keeping surprises a secret...I get so excited that I usually blow it. Well not this time... I knit this sweater for Bump and had the buttons custom madefor it by Buttons by Robin, a wonderful shop on Etsy... She used a photo of Rupert that I emailed her...Rupert is their (Bump, C & M's) family dog... I couldn't post a photo until they had received the sweater which arrived on their doorstep last night... Oh how I wish I could have been there when they got it! It turned out amazing! Pattern: Baby Sophisticate Yarn: Big tweedy Cashmere (lucky boy) Please check out Robin's shop on Etsy I know you'll find buttons you love and she does amazing work!
