Whatcha Knittin' Kitten?

Sometimes I am struck by a bout of knitting shyness when I am out in the general public...maybe shyness isn't the right word for it...I sometimes don't want people asking me questions about what I am knitting along with the inevitable...'wow, I wish I had time to do that' and 'that's amazing, i wish I could learn how to do that', and my favorite is 'wow, it looks like what my grandma used to crochet'. That's when I get up and walk away because the person cant be saved and I can't be held responsible for my actions... This isn't a knock on crochet, i have a weird fascination with he art of crochet and the things that people do with it... But knitting DOES NOT look like crochet, no matter how you stitch it. So for now Fatima's shawl sits in hiding in my bag till the lady hogging one of the comfortable sofas leaves...I think she would be the one to say, 'i wish I could learn how to do that' and I would have to respond with something unsavory like 'you realize that we are born only knowing how to do two things, scream and sh__ our pants'
Unsavory, unkind, and really not the kind of thing I like to put out for public consumption, but I feel like I am in a mood and would hate to unleash it on this poor unsuspecting woman reading her kindle...

P.s. In case you were wondering, ghetto jepeto is getting his oil changed, he's at the 124,000 mile mark...so I am writing this from the VW waiting room...

LOL! People are rediculous when they say things like that, especially when it's "I wish I had time for that." The Yarn Harlot has said something to the effect "What do you do when you watch TV? Just sit there?" I'm always knitting when the TV is on.

Don't be afraid to knit in public! The last time I knitted in public was at in the car dealership service waiting room, too. : )

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

Happy Birthday Mom!

I know I know, I'm a couple days early but I wanted to make sure you saw it before you sailed off to the deep blue sea... Literally. I've been thinking for a few days on what I would write for you on your birthday. How to best express just how amazing you are and how amazing it is that I got you for my mom. You've given me so much in my life that I am grateful for, that to try and put it into words would take a lifetime. I love the time we spend together. I love the way we laugh together. We've come so far and our adventures aren't over yet. I love you mom. Happy Birthday

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
