catching up...

It's been crazy since last Thursday.

Friday I had a wee bit of oral surgery and was down for the count for the rest of the day. I'm finally getting back to more solid foods and I'm done with the heavy pain killers and just on ibuprofen.

I had the surgery at 8:00 a.m. Friday and was home by 10:30 in the morning after a stop at the pharmacy and grocery store. D is still laughing about the trip to the Pharmacy. We dropped off the prescription and then wandered over to QFC to grab all manner of things that count for soft foods. Then we wandered back to the pharmacy (apparently I was weaving because D kept grabbing at me). At the pharmacy they asked my last name and I just sat there and stared at the pharmacy assistant like he was speaking Portuguese. D answered with a chuckle. Then the assistant asked my date of birth, again, blank stare until D answered correctly which earned him a huge crazy smile from me and a nod of approval. I would say after that display that I'm lucky the guy didn't give me sugar pills.
pretty sure this is the look i gave the pharmacy assistant. I was also still clenching
a square of gauze in the hole in my mouth...

the rest of Friday is pretty spotty. I know I tried to knit and had enough wherewithal to put it away.
There was a lot of hunkering down and catching up on TV that I haven't seen since last year wrapped up in an antique quilt that still smells like my moms house.

Saturday was better and more productive knitting wise... Therefore I have some finished objects for you :)
Well one of them has been finished for a while I just had to wait till after the baby shower to post about it!

Nurse Brown
I should also mention briefly. Mr. Brown had a rough day last Monday (the 13th) that required an emergency run to the vet followed by his own soft food diet, probiotic powder, antibiotics, and some IV fluids. Luckily it wasn't serious and he is doing quite well now, but Saturday we both snuggled in bed with Gabby in the chair next to us and watched movies. Like I've said before, Mr. Brown is a champion snuggler.

I think I've finally got the smell out of the dogs room...

Finished Object #1:
Baby Frock by Hannah Fettig
Yarn: Cascade Pacific Chunky Acrylic and Superwash Merino
Needle: Size 10
Super simple, super cute, and completely wearable for a long time for baby. Can go from dress to tunic as the baby grows. I am especially fond of the buttons that I chose.

Finished Object #2:
Cream & Sugar Cowl by Alana Dakos
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sox that Rock in Oopsie Daisies, the 2013 Valentines day colorway
Needle Size 6
Love it. Love it. Love it. I made one years ago in Plucky Fingering in the color Emerald City and I love that one. I made one in Knit Picks Palette in Cream for my mom at Christmas and that one turned out absolutely lovely. This one is squishy and colorful and currently in day number two of wearing. It's perfect for spring in Seattle where you need just a little something extra to keep the cold rain drops and wind from sneaking under your collar. I plan on wearing this one a lot this spring. It's perfect for me!

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

The countdown...

The Elbow has taken things a little to far. After three cortisone shots, icing, and squeezing exercises, it's just not behaving... Tuesday I went into the MRI tube do the Doc H. Could get a good look at what's going on...wear and tear is what's going on and it's only getting worse.. I can keep getting shots of cortisone but eventually they'll stop being as effective. Surgery will be the best option. That's right. SURGERY Wanna know the worst part? Recovery can take up to five months Five Months 5 FIVE months of no knitting... . . . I'll give you a second to get up off the floor... . . . You read that again didn't you? . . . my friend MzKimba has graciously offered to take care of my stash. However I think I'll just pack it all up and store it somewhere safe till I get the all clear from Doc H. Now all this being said, I have projects that need to be completed, so I'm going to try and schedule the surgery for som
