Storm

If you follow the news in Western Washington you know that we got walloped by a wind storm yesterday with 40-45 mph winds and gusts up to 60 mph.

Well, the road to my house looks like a massive evergreen debris field.

As with any storm that involves wind, flooding, and downed trees and branches, we also lost power about 6:40 p.m. last night and it's currently still out at my house.

Thank goodness for candles and headlamps.

The power went out halfway thru the last two rows off this mitten so the light went on and I got it done.

Otherwise I wouldn't be able to share these awesome photos with you this morning.

Oh, and thinking I pulled it all off and had my sh!t together this morning, I showered in the dark, did my hair in the dark, got dressed in the dark....

I was so close

Till I got in the elevator and realized that I had put my sweater on inside out...

Well I tried.

Thank goodness I didn't attempt my make up in the dark...

Happy Wednesday

Phoebe

Mr. Brown

these two had no trouble going to sleep at 7:00 last night. Nope. They curled right up and checked out.

That was some storm! Somehow we did not lose power....at home or work! I was hoping my work would, so we could go home early. I hope yours gets restored soon. Kudos to you for being able to knit in the near dark! Your babies look blissfully happy and I think our little girl puppy would have been happy too.

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

Happy Birthday Mom!

I know I know, I'm a couple days early but I wanted to make sure you saw it before you sailed off to the deep blue sea... Literally. I've been thinking for a few days on what I would write for you on your birthday. How to best express just how amazing you are and how amazing it is that I got you for my mom. You've given me so much in my life that I am grateful for, that to try and put it into words would take a lifetime. I love the time we spend together. I love the way we laugh together. We've come so far and our adventures aren't over yet. I love you mom. Happy Birthday

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
