Day 7: A Typical Evening at Home...

Since we're going with the 'typical' evening at home I'm going give you my typical 'weeknight' at home.

I get to work at a ridiculous hour.

5:30 a.m.

The main reason is traffic. I have a 40 minute drive and leaving later than 6:00 is just asking for a 90 minute drive.

Especially during the winter/rainy months.

Phoebe post breakfast nap. She fixed the couch all by herself
So I leave my house at 4:45 a.m.
That means I get up at 3:20 a.m.
The bonus?
I'm on the road home by 2:00 p.m. and rolling thru my front door about 3:00 p.m.

So my evening starts at 3:00 p.m.
Let Phoebe out.
Putter a bit.
Go thru the 'i don't wanna workout' argument
Put in my 21 day fix DVD or hop on the treadmill or stream my yoga from Amazon.

4:00-4:20 Phoebe is ready to be fed. Like really ready and will let you know, repeatedly until you feed her.

That's about when I start making our dinner as well.
I try to eat by 5:00 - 5:30 and start winding down for the evening by 6:00.

D usually arrives home somewhere in there, does his workout, eats his dinner, and lucky me, he does the dishes... :)

Shower, cruise the tv, knit for a while.
7:00 p.m. I turn off the T.V. turn on my sound sleep app and read my book till about 7:30-8:00.
I'm currently reading the new Jack Reacher The Midnight Line and book 17 in the Kay Scarpetta series The Scarpetta Factor. One thing I can say for my Kindle, it makes it really easy to cruise thru book series, and I love it! I can't wait for Maui in January. I'm going to load up the Kindle.

Somenights we go out.
Some nights we have hockey game.
Monday thru Friday is pretty routine though and I get cranky when my routine gets disrupted.

So does Phoebe.

So a typical evening at home, it's not very exciting, but it is what I do.
Right now I'm not doing my workouts from 3:00-4:00 as I'm getting the house ready for Mama's visit.

There's 'friends coming over' clean and then there is 'mom coming to stay' clean.

Comfort tester.

It's a de-cluttering, curtain hanging, furniture moving, dusting extravaganza!
The Guest Room is also my Yarn Room. Typically it's covered in yarn. I have that mostly contained.
Good thing mom is a knitter.
Happy Thursday ya'll

What's your typical night at home like?

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

I'm not good at keeping surprises a secret...I get so excited that I usually blow it. Well not this time... I knit this sweater for Bump and had the buttons custom madefor it by Buttons by Robin, a wonderful shop on Etsy... She used a photo of Rupert that I emailed her...Rupert is their (Bump, C & M's) family dog... I couldn't post a photo until they had received the sweater which arrived on their doorstep last night... Oh how I wish I could have been there when they got it! It turned out amazing! Pattern: Baby Sophisticate Yarn: Big tweedy Cashmere (lucky boy) Please check out Robin's shop on Etsy I know you'll find buttons you love and she does amazing work!
