Stash Organization.....

It's been my goal for about 4 months now to get my yarn stash under control......Well I use the word control loosely as I have yarn spilling out of an empty flower pot in the corner of my living room that is surrounded by more yarn, a couple rubber maid totes full of yarn, i could go on forever. The plan is to organize the office upstairs into a office and yarn/knitting room. Up till now it was more of a storage space for stuff that we didn't know what to do with when we moved in 5 years ago, well it's going to change now! However the process of going through 5 years of storage can be frustrating at times as well as amusing. Last night I found a VHS player, I didn't think we even owned one in our previous house, but there it was. I found a couple old dog toys from our first boxer Baily which just about sent the other two dogs through the roof with wanting to play with them, i have to sew them shut, i'm guessing that's why they are in the office in the first place.
It's been interesting however. As I go through the yarn I own it's kind of a timeline of my knitting. 8 years ago was when I first started and not knowing better bought some very cheap, tactile repulsive yarn, which I apparently still own, now as I organize my current projects instead of the acrylic blends *gag* I'm playing with wool, alpaca, bamboo, mohair and my new favorite a sock yarn made out of merino wool, bamboo and just a pinch of nylon, it's shiny, silky and looks beautiful.
I'll post some pictures of my progress but I have a feeling that once I have all my yarn up on the shelves in a somewhat ADD organized fashion that it might be too embarrassing to admit that I own and plan to use as much yarn as I have. I wonder what my husband will say?
Happy Friday

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

Happy Birthday Mom!

I know I know, I'm a couple days early but I wanted to make sure you saw it before you sailed off to the deep blue sea... Literally. I've been thinking for a few days on what I would write for you on your birthday. How to best express just how amazing you are and how amazing it is that I got you for my mom. You've given me so much in my life that I am grateful for, that to try and put it into words would take a lifetime. I love the time we spend together. I love the way we laugh together. We've come so far and our adventures aren't over yet. I love you mom. Happy Birthday

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
