I heart my........

Sparkly pink flip flops....so much so that I have literally worn the metallic like material off of them. They bow a little bit and a few of the sequins have fallen off. They have been good to me. I have worn them for almost a year. I know that everytime I put them on it could be the last time that I wear them, it makes me sad. Knowing that they could break at any moment I keep a back up pair of sandals in my car, just in case. However these have a life I have never seen in $3.00 flip flops. They are sturdy, they are comfortable, and I think they make my somewhat 'funny' looking feet look more narrow, at least when I look down on them they do. I've received many compliments on my flip-flops. I love them. I bought them at a drug store last fall before I went to Minneapolis for a visit and I have worn them ever since...........but like I said, I know the day is coming when they will no longer be able to take one more step with me, turn one more corner, travel to one more exotic place. I know this, thus the search began early this summer for a replacement pair. I have bought a few pairs that I thought could replace them but I don't like them, they don't feel right. So, I keep on my path with my sparkly pink flip-flops sending out good thoughts that they'll make it through another day of demands, another day of puddles, another day of Quintus running off with one of them. Until......

YESTERDAY! While shopping at the drugstore where I found the pink ones a year ago I found them again!!! Of course I did what any sensible girl would do who has an inability to find shoes that make her feet look good.......I bought 3 more pair. One in Green, one in Blue, and of course the requisite Pink. They need to be broken in but that's pretty much true with anything.

So now my sparkly pink flip-flops will be relagated to home and garden.

Speaking of garden...I thought I'd share some pictures I took yesterday in it.......

a bumble bee looking for some pollen....

a water droplet left from my watering on the leaves of my Bleeding Heart....

The Hydrangea my mother gave to me shortly after I moved in to this house. It's simply the most breathtaking plant and watching it go through it's phases of color just makes your heart bloom with it.

My miracle grow pansie.......

and my Gerbera Daisy which will be planted today with my orange Gerbera Daisy......

p.s.

I need to thank my mom for giving me the love of flowers....even if I came late to the party :)

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

24 Hours

I don't even really know how to tell you about our last weekend. We took a trip that lasted less than 24 hours from start to finish. Saturday morning we left our home at 8:30 a.m. with our friends and we caught a train to Portland, Oregon. We were going to watch our hockey team play against the Portland Winterhawks. It's important to note that Friday Portland and areas far south of Tacoma Washington were hit with a snow storm. But, we were taking the train so we weren't super concerned. I packed extra knit items and warm clothes just in case we needed it. Boy did we need it! As soon as we got out of the train station we snagged the first cab we saw and made it thru the snow covered streets to our hotel. Which was a short walk from Memorial Coliseum where the game was being played that night. Checked in, changed our clothes into our team colors, and headed out to walk around a bit and find some pub grub... That's when we realized we were in the m
