Robins.......my nemesis

I used to love, LOVE the first Robin of Spring.....seriously...since I was a young girl I would see the Robin early in the morning and say 'happy spring Mr. Robin Red Breast' and it would make me happy all day long, silly I know but really people it is the little things that make life happy. Well let me tell you this, Robins aren't little, and they aren't the sweet little worm pullers you see early in the morning hopping through your dewy grass looking for grubs, worms, and berries. They are mean, nasty beasts with wings, long sharp pointy beaks, and a mean streak as wide as that happy red breast they sport so proudly......That's right I'm talking about your North American Robin.....the one that makes it impossible to sit on my back deck during glorious spring weather in Seattle because he and his friends keep dive bombing me and the dogs while we soak up our Vitamin D.

I know why they are doing it, I understand they have to protect their young and I'm okay with that, protect, but don't hit my young and don't teach your young to hit my young or I'm going to......well I don't know what I'll do. I'm not an advocate of animal cruelty, even between species........so what do I do you ask? Easy, I call upon Big Stick Ideology....."Speak softly and carry a big stick." By President Theodore Roosevelt...Damn right I carry a big stick....makes for awkward knitting, maybe I'll trade in my circulars for straights for a while.......just for extra ammo.
P.S. don't mock the liquid courage....I for one do not want to turn Alfred Hitchcocks 'The Birds' into a documentary rather than a movie.....
and don't call me Tippi.....

Happy Birthday To MEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It's my birthday. I'm not looking for props but I do have an amazon wish list in case any of you are unsure of what I like.......really the range of things I collect are quite vast.
I do however have some birthday advice, especially for those named after a city.
Everytime I hear someone say 'Carmel' I look up and either say yes, excuse me, or hello. If I don't say anything I damn near break my neck whipping it around to see who it is that would like to speak to me. Also, As much fun as it is to be in a place where I can buy souvenirs with my name emblazoned upon them, to wear them, stick them, or carry them with me would open me up to a ridicule I don't think my delicate personality will handle, therefore I will leave it up to D. to wear forth the tee with my name splashed across the back.
Have a wonderful time in Carmel-by-the sea!! Off to Peppoli for a birthday dinner with the best women I know!

is there nothing better......

tokens can be found at idlehandsdesigns.com

Than coming home after a long day at the office, making dinner, and then being able to sit down and knit on any one number of things? The answer is yes.....yes because If I didn't have SO MANY FREAKING PROJECTS TO CHOOSE FROM I'd probably be more accomplished. I like to think of myself as a 'intermediate knitter'. However, I think that 'crazy' would be a more apt term when referring to me and yarn in the same conversation. Case in point a ring made of yarn....which I love by the way so think twice before you mock me for it.......I may start an etsy account yet and sell these like crazy.
