I have a plan......

It's a good one...It's just a matter of whether I can hold strong till it's all in place or will I be distracted as I travel down memory lane and wander along remembering what I was feeling when I brought this one home....curious yet? I'm organizing the stash this weekend........Really going to go through it and be ruthless about it......which is hard, I'd rather cut off a toe than part with my stash, but the truth of the matter is that the stash has the power right now, in all it's seductive wooly-silky-hand-painted-bulky-sport-lace-fingering weight blends.....I've given in to my Mistress and it's time for me to return to my throne as Queen of Pile....better than Queen of Piles....hahaha.
So, the trick will be to not become distracted by the power of the yarn and start casting on for something that isn't on my list for 2011 or worse empty out the crates, bags, boxes, and trunks only to become so overwhelmed that I faint into the pile only to be found days later sucking my thumb while fingering that luscious balls of cashmere that I had to have but have no recall buying....there's a lot of yarn that I blame the purchase on blackouts......most recently the 1440 yards of merino lace to be paired with the 6 balls of kid mohair/silk lace with a hit of sparkle in it......in the mean time I'm working actively on 5 things.
1. a lap blanket
2. my Cassis cardigan by Thea Coleman
3. Clapotis for my mom - I know I know, she usually takes my shawls but I think of this as an offering to her that may keep her from swiping the next one she see's me in. You'd think living a few states away from each other she wouldn't be able to get her hands on mine but it's my own dumb fault that I bring them all with me to show off for her............this is also for her birthday but she already knows about it because I can't keep a gift a secret when it's for her.....
4. I'm doing a test for Kim and am very excited about it.........You will see it when Kim says and not a minute before, all I can say is that I'm making it out of yarn. She at least gives you a teaser on her blog.
5. I'm also doing  another striped hat, Turn A Square by Jared Flood........
So that's what's actively being worked on, meaning that it's something I've touched in the last 48 hours....some more than others but I gave the blanket a real good going over Monday so it needs a break.......So to Quote the Yarn Harlot today....
Knitting, you are a deep and fickle mistress

W.I.P

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

24 Hours

I don't even really know how to tell you about our last weekend. We took a trip that lasted less than 24 hours from start to finish. Saturday morning we left our home at 8:30 a.m. with our friends and we caught a train to Portland, Oregon. We were going to watch our hockey team play against the Portland Winterhawks. It's important to note that Friday Portland and areas far south of Tacoma Washington were hit with a snow storm. But, we were taking the train so we weren't super concerned. I packed extra knit items and warm clothes just in case we needed it. Boy did we need it! As soon as we got out of the train station we snagged the first cab we saw and made it thru the snow covered streets to our hotel. Which was a short walk from Memorial Coliseum where the game was being played that night. Checked in, changed our clothes into our team colors, and headed out to walk around a bit and find some pub grub... That's when we realized we were in the m
