Upcoming Events!

It's November 1.
Halloween was terribly uneventful for us which is fine with me. Having two big dogs that go bezerk whenever the doorbell rings makes it difficult to effectively hand out candy to little trick or treaters without wearing Kevlar pants and steel toe boots. Plus, to get to our front door and down our driveway to get candy, you really gotta want it.

so, the lights stayed off.

Aside from the obvious upcoming events; Thanksgiving, Bumps 1st birthday, Big Brothers birthday, Miss A's first birthday as well as Christmas, it's almost time for the annual So Much Yarn knitting retreat on Langley.

This will be my fourth year going and I can't wait.

Know what's going to make it more awesome?

My mom is flying out to join us!

I'm so excited I'm in an absolute twitter about it.

We're going to head up early Friday and knit our little hearts out all weekend along with a few dinners at Prima Bistro.

I have 4 projects I need to pack for the trip and they are all Christmas Gifts for the kiddos... Of course knowing me I'll toss in another 6 just in case I get the first four finished.

I'll also remember to pack the knitting patterns for each project.

Remember last year? That's right, I got to Langley and realized that I had brought all the yarn but left the patterns at home...

I actually don't live that far from Langley but I really really didn't want to have to go home and get them.

This year though I'll have a back up on my phone thanks to my fancy app 'Good Reader' for iPhone and iPad... they are all right there whenever I need them. I think it costs about 4.99 for the app and well worth it.

I'll post pics from the retreat during the weekend, of course once the wine and martini's start flowing I can't guarantee photo quality... can't guarantee knitting quality at that point either...

I better stuff a garter stitch scarf in my bag to knit on as well...

Oh! I almost forgot... that's not true how could I forget, BW is here! he arrived Sunday, weighing in at over 8lb's and a full head of hair! Welcome to our corner of the world BW! I can't wait to meet you in person!

and.... My friend Brenda who I met years ago at knitting and has moved to San Francisco for work is coming up for retreat as well!!

Hope this week goes fast!!

I can't wait to see you mom!!

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
