Happy New Year!

I always feel like it takes me at least a week after the ball drops and the calendar flips to actually catch up with the fact that it is indeed a brand new year.
Today I feel like 'Whew! Welcome 2013'

There is a lot to do accomplish this year.

1. Back in 2007 me and 5 other ladies formed a team to walk the Susan G Komen 3Day. Well 3 of us are signing up to do it again this year. I'm super excited! It's for a great cause and it's literally a life changing event for all who participate from the volunteers, to the walkers, to the people who come out and cheer us on along the side lines.

2. I have to bite the bullet and get the elbow fixed. I keep squawking about having the surgery done and then keep putting it off but the truth is I'm going to have to do it and put away the knitting needles for a few weeks months. Prayers for my sanity and my husbands safety would be appreciated... I'm tentatively looking at March for the big repair...

3. I have a few things that need to be knit before March. One of which is the project that I started right after Christmas for me... The Color Affection shawl by Veera Valimaki you can follow progress on my Ravelry page here. I love the colors I chose and I love the way the finished product looks on those I've seen... You really have to love short rows to pull this off and you need to have the sanity to carry three different colors along an edge... and if you don't have the sanity to pull it off two fingers of a good scotch will help... don't over do it though or you'll miss a wrap & turn.

4. In addition to finishing my Color Affection, I have the Mabel dress to make for my niece Miss A. and a super bulky cardigan that her mom picked out... Originally my mom was going to make it but then decided she didn't want to knit with size 17 needles. I don't mind working with needles that big plus my sister-in-law is the smallest size. You do the math... Either way that cardigan is getting cranked out double fast!

5. We have a lot of trips planned this year, including Spring Training, camping with our friends, and a trip up the coast of Maine with my mom and G. I can't wait...

These are just the top five things we have to get geared up for this year... There is also the race car, the massive decluttering of our home (starting with my closet and the 10 years worth of clothes I don't wear anymore)
I'm turning 39 this year. That wouldn't be as big a deal as I'm making it except that I thought that I was going to be turning 38 this coming May... That is a great big nasty slap across the face.

I hope this year brings many wishes coming true and the begining of great things for all of you out there...

Now I have to get onto my Pinterest Board and try and figure out which of the 20 Chicken Chili recipes that I've pinned that I bought the ingredients for yesterday...

Happy New Year...

It feels like you a have a lot for this year..but looking closely, I'm sure you can accomplish everything you put in there. Kudos for making the walk a goal and for putting in "getting better" of your elbow in there. Sometimes is easy to forget to take care of ourselves. I'm a new reader and plan to come back again and again. Cheers to a new year!
