The end of summer...

Saying that sounds so final but in essence the best of summer is over and fall is within spitting distance, right?
This week is the start of school for many kids.
The nights are getting shorter, and cooler.
Pinterest Boards are awash in Holiday decor ideas...
Gone are the summer knitting patterns and a slew of new fall/winter/holiday knitting patterns are littering Ravelry like a plague of locust.
It's time to break out the soup, stew, and comfort food recipes.

It's fair to say that as much as I love the fall and winter seasons for the long stormy days of knitting, cooking, and baking, I'm not ready for the summer to be ending.

This last weekend we took our annual trip to Banks Lake with all our friends and it never really hit me till the long drive home Monday that August ended and September began while we were all out there soaking up as much sun, swimming, wakeboarding, and skiing as we could...

I woke up to come to work this morning and it's been rainy and overcast all day long.
Instead of looking at light shawls for knitting I found myself going thru mitten and hat patterns today...

I know there are still many warm days ahead, but they are getting shorter and the time for nesting in the house is getting nearer...

I better bust open my yarn stash and make sure I'm well supplied...

Here is a quick glimpse of our weekend.
It was wonderful.
Full of our friends and their kids. All of them awesome. All of them my favorite people to be with...
I cooked breakfast and dinner for the lot of them and loved every minute of it, what's better than showing your friends you love them than feeding them delicious food?

I think it was delicious.
I hope they thought it was delicious.

Well you've done it again, made me extremely jealous. A trip to Banks what an enjoyable time you probably had. Such a marvelous place to be. I really do miss it, and all the fun our family had there. I am glad for you that you get to go just envious.
