Bazinga!

A pie was born!

Being Thankful & Mindful

The two really go hand in hand. In order to discover all you are thankful for you need to be mindful of all things around you. We could really get into the knitty  nitty-gritty of thanfulness and mindfulness and this post could go on for a year... Maybe that will be a resolution come January first, I have a pie to bake and I'll be using up all my mindfulness in a couple hours trying to crack that out... I digress. Again, to be thankful we must be mindful to recognize all things that we are thankful for... By the time I'm done here you'll be thankful that I showed some restraint... I'm going to tell you a lot of things that I am thankful for. Not in any particular order but what comes to mind first. - I'm thankful for my husband, because he understands me, even when I get a little crazy. He listens to me and we make each other laugh... a lot. - my dogs. All the dogs in my life I am thankful for but in particular my current two Mr. Brown and Gabby. I ...

Countdown

It's the Wednesday before Thanksgiving... It's crunch time. It's also question time. Do I make the pie today or tomorrow when it'll be fresher. If I make it today and screw it up we have time to run out and buy a new pie. If I make it tomorrow and screw it up we're eating ice cream. We are in Florida so ice cream is appropriate Screwed up pies are not. However, since I have a wing-it, nonchalant attitude towards cooking and baking and I fancy myself a bit of a risk taker, Sally on the edge person, I'm going to bake the pie tomorrow and what will be will be... honestly. How bad can a jacked up chocolate pie be? it's chocolate if it doesn't set up we'll just pour it over the ice cream... The sweet potatoes are roasted and cooling on the stove. The celery and stuffing mix are ready to go... The bird is fresh and waiting to be roasted There's champagne in the fridge ready to be toasted... It's thanksgiving eve and we're...

The Dude...

Bump turns two today. I remember when he arrived two years ago. I remember flying to Minneapolis for his christening and holding him the first time. I remember every moment that c & m have shared with me. I remember being asked to serve as godmother alongside m's brother Will. I remember learning his new word this weekend wishing I could hear it in person... Happy Birthday dude We love you so much! Grandma & I are calling you later!!

a quickie...

you gotta love knitters if for only this reason... Catching Fire part II in the Hunger Games series has been in theaters for about a week now... Just this morning browsing thru ravelry I came across two patterns for the cowl that Katniss Everdeen apparently is wearing in the movie... Raise the roof to the knitters who watch the movie, go home, crack out a copy of whatever a character is knitting and then post it for the rest of us to love... Happy Tuesday... Carmel

Feast Week

It's upon us... There is no doubt. People are packing into Costco like its a grand opening The grocery stores are filled with people I am convinced are there for the firs time. I was described by my mom and D as a woman in a mission today as they saw me streak thru the store gathering stuff for the feast I'm about to foist upon them! I'm going to make a pie for thanksgiving and G's eyes lit up Tim I told him that he needs to lower his expectations, they're high for good reason, he's had pies made by my brother, I had to to tell him that I've never actually made a pie, unless you count the cool whip jello thing I made a couple summers ago and a few pudding pies. Those don't really count except they are delicious! Tomorrow mom and I are off to shop, explore, and wander about and hopefully locate the yarn shop down here... I hope its a good one. I have a bunch of finished stuff I need to photograph and I'm going to do it here at moms a...
