Three Days...

In three days I'll be able to check a new age group box on quizes I mean  Geez!  Wasn't yesterday when I was posing for this school photo with pig tails in my hair?    curious if I tried cutting my bangs myself...

Mothers Day...

That nose isn't a pony it's our Great Dane Big Ed! A time to honor our moms. To show them that all the endless nights, tears, scrapes, bruises, fights, the teenage years, and beyond we're all worth it. That because of them we turned into little contributing members of society, we take care of ourselves, we start little families of our own and if we do it right we in turn create more little contributing members of society. Except me, and that's a different story for a much much later time. Some years I get my mom a gift and hustle to get it there in time, others I get her a card and hustle to hopefully get it there on time. This year was a card year... I hope it made it on time. Dale, pretty sure i'm wearing a seahawks hat in this photo.... My mom gave so much to us. Worked so hard so we could fly off to the world and be who we wanted to be, even if it's not what she thought we would be. She knew we would figure it out. It just took some me lon...

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

Chocolate coma cookies

1. Tomorrow is D's birthday but since we have a prior engagement that day we are celebrating tonight. 2. I made these chocolate coma cookies in lieu of cake. 3. Cake would have been less tempting. 4. You know that buzz you get in your head when you eat something so perfect you think you might faint? That's me right now. 5. These cookies require real milk. Not skim, not 1%, you gotta go whole hog or at least 2%. 6. If you are lactose intolerant I apologize, you can't substitute nut (spellcheck corrected that to butt but I caught it) milk to go alongside these. 7. They would be worth the pain of real milk. (If you are indeed lactose intolerant) 8. I was in such a state of euphoria I touched the 350 degree pan with my fingertips. A lot of bad words in new arrangements followed. 9. We've both declared that these cookies can never be made in this house again. Until his birthday next year. 10. Recipe is from Pinch Of Yum. It's really called 'Thick ...

The Happs...

As in happenings around these parts... My parts?  Today is the start of the South Sound Yarn Crawl. It covers 9 shops and one Alpaca farm. If you're in the the area you should check it out. Here is the link The other thing that is happening is a Fair Isle Along over on America's Knitting Ravelry group (I am the moderator there) and on America's Knitting Facebook page ! Mary and I will be hitting the SSYC tomorrow morning bright and early... I'm to report at her house at 8:30 a.m. That means and early morning ferry ride. Ferry rides make me happy. That being said, pudding makes me pretty happy as well. So the Fair Isle Along! It was the suggestion of one of our friends/followers on Facebook and the idea exploded pretty quick... The rules are simple 1. Pick whatever fair isle project you want 2. the KAL runs from May 1 - June 30 3. Your pattern must use a minimum of four colors I chose Peerie Flooers by Kate Davies I'm going to make tw...

Dear Dogs...

Dear Dogs,  We've had this talk before but apparently you need a reminder.  6:00 a.m. On Sunday is not an appropriate time to wake me up, especially since you have not yet mastered the art of coffee making... To add insult to injury you wait until it's too late for me to go back to sleep before settling in for your mid morning nap...  Sincerely,  The Girl Who Feeds You. Carmel Creager
