common sense vs. reality

another conversation between my wonderful husband and myself via email.

Me: Look at this new cardigan pattern by Hannah Fettig. I want to buy it!

Dale: Why don't you start using the yarn you have?? you could clothe a large village....
Me: I'm not talking about the yarn, just pattern, and yes I probably do have something at home that would work......

Conversation Part II between me and my stash.
Stash: You aren't really going to use us to knit with are you? We thought you bought us because you liked our sense of color and style.
Me: I do like you, I love you, and I hate the thought of disturbing you but I may have to use some of you to make this sweater with.
Stash: You're going to break us up!
Me: Never
Stash: it's all because of him! Him with that fancy race thingy in the garage. He's jealous of our bond, that's why he wants you to use us, he wants you to get rid of us!
Me: he just doesn't understand you the way I do, he doesn't understand the bond we have formed from the day I plucked you from the shelves, held you all the way home, showed you to all my friends, and put you in your bin with your new friends for safe keeping.
Stash: Well, if you have to choose, take #52 Teal, we know it was probably pity that you made you buy him but really, he doesn't fit in with the rest of us....
Me: but, I don't wear that color
Stash: exactly
Me: I'm sorry
Stash: You can go, We need to be alone now

p.s. the item pictured is the Boneyard Shawl by Stephen West, a brilliant knitwear designer and knitter!

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
