A hat, A Quote, and maybe a Joke.....

First....the Hat.....Thelia designed by Kim Delacruz who I've become friends with over the past year and who I adore as a person as well as a designer and lucky me, she occasionally will ask me to test something fabulous like this hat.....the hat is posted for purchase and you can get the link here....I used Cascade 128 chunky superwash and a size 10.5 needle. However, since I have a head the size of a jellybelly on steroids I need to make my next one just a little bit longer. I spoke with Kim this morning and she said that she extended the ribbing on her second one almost double and that did the trick.
The quote of the day that showed up in my email inbox from RealSimple.com was this:
“She’s got this real funny idea about a diet: you don’t get fat if no one sees you eating.”

― Gloria Naylor
The Joke Portion of today's email comes in the form of my new desk calendar for 2011, given to me by my friend/co-worker Marcy....I love it, so far only one has made me blush....but I secretly have prudish tendencies....wanna know what they are?

"Madness takes it's toll - Exact change please."
" If you need me, I'll be in my office screaming" sadly this isn't an unsual occurence.....it's usually coupled with some banging on my desk.
"Turns out I'm a social drinker......I just happen to be REALLY social" - I took a snapshot of this and did a little photo editing on with a splendid picture of mom, however because I vaulue my life and know that when provoked she grows 10 feet tall and shoots daggers from her eyes, I will abstain from sending it out, I emailed it to a few key people already and that's good enough.

One more thing to keep in your thoughts today.......Maryc's sister Carrie is recovering from not only a bilateral mastectomy last week,  but a very long reconstrutive surgery that took place this past Tuesday. They had some complications during the procedure and she was in surgery much longer than expected. The good news is she's awake, she's talking, and she has a new set of knockers.......Her family is in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you'll keep them in yours.....and while you do it give that little Pink Ribbon a click and help fund mammograms for everyone.
Happy Friday
Feel your Boobies
Imagine a world where we don't have to lop them off anymore.

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
