Race Season.................

It's a way of life for us....it's been a way of life for D for longer than I've known him. It's a hobby really, an expensive one at that, but I knit, and I knit with nice yarn so at the end of the year I think it's a wash. We had our second race of the season this past Saturday and while you could read all sorts of blogs talking about the Mini-Stock race and how everyone did you won't find it here.......What I can tell you is that we had an oil pressure issue and decided that instead of risking blowing up our engine that we would run 1 lap for the heat, and 1 for the main just to get some season points. Depending on how the day is going I can crank out a lot of knitting at the track. Apparently I have been described by others as 'the knitter'......People pass by our trailer all the time and say 'oh yeah, your the knitter'.......What makes you say that......as I have DPN's sticking out of my hair and a tangle of sock yarn stuffed in the cup holder of my race day chair.....Yes I'm the knitter.....they especially love that I mixed my hobby with D's hobby and stuck a ball of yarn on the hood of the car.....it's what we do together, and how each of us feeds our souls. The only thing they have in common is us, and that's enough for me.

and it's only appropriate that I work on the baby blanket for Damien at the race track since his father #12 is not only races with D he is also last years Ministock Champion.....Damien is due anyday now but mom Mindy is holding out for the 16th!
Yarn is Berroco Comfort Chunky
Pattern: Big Bad Baby Blanket by Stitch 'n' Bitch
Perfect for mom to bring to the track to keep baby warm and no worry about it getting dirty because it can go right into the washer!

I love how you knit at the track and how your logo and blog address are on the hood of D's car!

I love knitting at the track! Especially since there can be a lot of down time and we are there for 9 hours on race days!

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
