Karma: it be a'coming your way shawl thief...

Yesterday I read a post on Facebook by a friend of my niece who said the very first hand knit lace project she ever made was taken from her bag at a big box store...
She looked everywhere, in case it had fallen out. Talked to the people at customer service to see if it was handed in, nothing. It was gone. Into thin air.

What a horrible, sickening feeling. To discover something you made, love, and carry with you, snatched without a clue as to who took it.

A hand-knit, whether made by you or gifted to you, is a precious, treasured item. It's more than an object. It's a piece of love. They carry the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of the person who made it. If you steal a hand knit from someone, you steal a little piece of the heart of the person who made it.
Every single item I knit for someone else absorbs the happy thoughts, the good wishes for the recipient, the love I feel for each of them and it's in every single stitch. Knitters aren't sweatshops, we knit because we love it, and we knit for others because we love them. We want to give them something that was made with only them in mind. We knit with good intentions. We knit with thoughts of happiness, warmth, love, and hugs.

That also goes for things we knit for ourselves. There is a pride behind it.

I made this! Every stitch knit by me. Isn't it wonderful. I love to touch it. I love to make other people touch the things I knit. They want to touch them. They can't help themselves...

Knitting isn't done with anger. It's done with joy.

Remember the time I knit angry and the project was so jacked up I had to rip it out?

To the person who felt the need to steal A's Muir Shawl...

Suck it.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I hope you know what you have in your hands.
I hope you understand how you made one girl feel.
I hope you understand the definition of karma.
You are not a nice person.
I hope the next time you visit a petting zoo the sheep bite your hand.

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Except for the fact that I went in there the other day with a shopping bag and loaded up. Currently in the sidelines to be finished 1. Ledge Trail Vest 2. Twiggy for me 3. 70 Yard Mitt for my other hand Finished those bad boys last night! this is what happens when you use the 10s burst hands free option on your iphone and you're holding said phone with your chinny chin chin. On the List: 1. Twiggy for a Christmas gift 2. Iris the Gourmet Monster but since it's for a boy I'm calling it Orvil. 3. Great White Shart Shark 4. Bosco - for me 5. Stillhouse Vest - for me 6. Woodsy - for me 7. Three Seahawk themed hats as gifts. 8. Gifts for friends... and on and on and on If you...

I could have used another week...

Last week was wonderful... D and I traveled to Scottsdale, AZ to spend time with Mom and G as well as attend some Cactus League Spring Training Baseball. The weather was amazing (after Sunday and Monday's rain storms) High 80's the rest of the week, and sun sun sun and more sun... Waking up in the morning and being able to lounge on the patio with my coffee. Wearing shorts for a week... and finally... Finally I got to see a cactus bloom! We always come to early in the season for it and it bums me out, but not this time...Nope, this time I got to see it. And it was wonderful more pictures to come as well as a 'Favorite Things' post on what I love to do when I am there...
