Finished Object: Simple Slouchy Beanie

I knit this up back in June.

I bought the yarn for something else and it just wasn't meant to be, so I made this hat, I made the copy cat Fox hat and I have about 2 skeins left to make something else with... Maybe some bulky mittens are in my future.

It's pretty simple and knits up fast.

Simple is in the name! I have a feeling that once the temperature drops and it's not 85+ in my neighborhood I'll get a lot of wear out of this hat!

I also think I need to go to Ikea and get myself a dresser to hold my knitwear... I'm running out of room in my regular dresser... hmmm.

So here are the details:

Pattern: Simple Slouchy Beanie

Designer: Kelly Kingston

Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky in color Crush.

Needles: size 10.5

I love it.

The color is me.

The yarn is soft after it's washed.

Oh yes, blocking is a must for this hat, it makes all the difference!

on a side note, some of you may have heard about a fire in a dry dock marina on Lake Union this past 4th of July... we kept our boat there and it was one of the boats destroyed in the fire. 14 boats total were destroyed, four additional were damaged.

We were able to check out just how damaged it was on Sunday when we got back from our camping trip...

SSYC... My First Official Yarn Crawl...

It's true... I've never actually participated in a yarn crawl or LYS tour. When I worked at So Much Yarn I had the pleasure of working the weekend of the LYS Tour but I've never done it. Well, the SSYC, South Sound Yarn Crawl covers 9 shops that aren't included for whatever reason in the Seattle LYS Tour that covers around 25 shops in the area. Maybe they're too far off the beaten path. It's not because they aren't in Seattle because there are shops way way way out of town that are included in the Seattle LYS tour. Whatever the reason, it's not important. What is important is that Mary and I both took Friday off and hit the road. I caught the 7:15 Ferry to Kingston, Arrived at Mary's about 8:00. Mary and I have the same china. Mine came from my Grandmother, her's came from her mom. Tried making friends with her fluffy dog Mae. Someday she'll come to love me, for now I'll respect her tenative personality and love her fro...

The 'To-Do' list...

and by 'to-do' list I mean 'to-knit' list. I'm really really trying to get on track with this list and stay deeply focused. It has helped that I have successfully removed all yarn from the living room and into Mr. Brown's Yarn shop on the second floor. Sacrifices

This project was started June 2009. The summer it hit over 100 degrees here in Seattle for one week. Knitting on this was lovely sealed in my room with the sun blacked out with blankets and four fans circulating the stifling air. Since then it's been worked on here and there but because its been four years from the start it takes me a few rows to figure out what the F I was doing. Plus after looking at it some more I found that its not going to be what I imagined it to be... I decided today to rip it out. Did you faint? I'm a little light headed at the thought or maybe I'm hungry. Yes. I'm going to rip it out. I am going to make a lap a lap blanket using the same colors but in a basic, comforting, pick it up and knit whenever style. Sorry old girl...
