A New Year's Eve Thank You

As we roll into a new year in a matter of hours, I wanted to take a moment to say thank-you.

Thank you for reading what I write.
Thank you for the comments.
Thank you being an ear to my ramblings.

Thank you to for your support when we said good-by to Gabby.
When my knitting took a sharp turn to 'f-itupville'
Thank you for your kind, warm welcome to Phoebe showing up.

Gabby
I have a lot in a year to be thankful for and even though I don't say it, the gratitude is there.

2014 with the Rentals
For my family, who is always there at the end of a text, call, email, or card. For just being there, knowing that whatever the need, whatever the celebration, the problem, they are right there with me.

2015
For D. Really, if husbands cashed a paycheck, this boy should get combat pay some days. No one sees my ups, downs, and in betweens quite like him. No one centers me back to almost normal quite like him.
2010

We're entering year 13 of marriage. I have a feeling it could be the most exciting yet.
for the record. D is not trying to punch me in this photo, he was getting ready to hone in on some selfie action at this Seahawk game 6 years ago.

For my friends, my dear dear friends who I didn't see nearly enough of this year, and a lot of that was on me and the ups, the downs, and the spinning out of controls. I know you are there, you know I am there, you know I love all of you with my whole heart. I'm looking at you, Lisa, Vicki, and Kim.

For the dogs. Gabby, my sweet girl, who we still miss every day. Mr. Brown, my handsome old man, you're still plugging away at life with the same spirit you had 12 years ago when we brought you home. Phoebe, for bringing a level of excitement into our house unlike any we've ever experienced before. The life she led before us didn't dim her sweet inquisitive spirit. She's crazy, but she's our kind of crazy.

To all my friends at Washington Boxer Rescue. Really, all the years we've had our dogs, trips to the vets, the 2:00 a.m. phone calls after the Hamburger Bun Incident of 2014, The Tissue Incident of 2012, followed by the Trophy Cupcake Episode of 2012, and lets not forget the Memory Foam Moment of 2013 when Mr. Brown ate his new orthopedic bed. The support from WBR and the friends of WBR, has always been amazing, fun, and opened many new doors with many new friends.

I hope you all have had an amazing year.
I hope your plans for 2016 are magical.

Thank you to everyone who is apart of my world.

Happy New Year.

Bears Barn Owl. We had a hockey game last night and while I'm normally so wrapped up in the game that I don't have time to knit, that was not the case last night. Silvertips have had a rough go and the Red Deer Rebels really wolloped them last night. So I knit. I ate some dingleberries. Delicious. and I knit some more. I have a feeling I'll be finishing this bad boy up by tomorrow and he'll be the star of the retreat. Isn't his color wonderful?

Knitter Down...I Repeat, We Have a Knitter Down...

It's probably not that dramatic, well maybe it is, who can say for sure....but I can say this, right now from my elbow to my wrist is some gnarly pain that was flared last night after knitting 6 rows of the Shawl...SIX ROWS and then WHAMMO! so much pain. This isn't the first day I've had this, I've actually been ignoring for a few days ...okay, I've been ignoring it for a couple weeks but this is the worst it's been...So, I've made inquiries as to which doctor to see and am waiting to hear back to make an appointment...while I wait ice packs, and copious amounts of pain meds (don't worry by copius I really mean, recommended daily dose) are being taken with the shedding of a few tears while I fondle my knitting... stay tuned...this can't possibly last forever xoxoxo c. p.s. Fati...don't worry I have a plan if this whole wrist issues blows out of control...

24 Hours

I don't even really know how to tell you about our last weekend. We took a trip that lasted less than 24 hours from start to finish. Saturday morning we left our home at 8:30 a.m. with our friends and we caught a train to Portland, Oregon. We were going to watch our hockey team play against the Portland Winterhawks. It's important to note that Friday Portland and areas far south of Tacoma Washington were hit with a snow storm. But, we were taking the train so we weren't super concerned. I packed extra knit items and warm clothes just in case we needed it. Boy did we need it! As soon as we got out of the train station we snagged the first cab we saw and made it thru the snow covered streets to our hotel. Which was a short walk from Memorial Coliseum where the game was being played that night. Checked in, changed our clothes into our team colors, and headed out to walk around a bit and find some pub grub... That's when we realized we were in the m
