Day 2: Carmel-by-the-Sea

morning walk  Pacific Grove Graffiti Literally, Carmel was in Carmel. I know. I know. I'm the only one who finds this amusing. I am easily amused. Also, I think I can finally concede that I watch too much crime drama. Also, I need to apologize to my mom for all those nights in high school I didn't come home at night. The story about this is coming soon. It's just a bit to soon for me to re-live it again. :) mom made a new friend at lunch. This is Garbo. She's the sweetest. Her  and mom have a special bond.  After our run thru Carmel we headed back to PG. I strolled around town and visited Monarch Knitting (special post about that soon). I took some wonderful pictures around town.  If you've never been to this area you really should visit.  A shark sticker with my name in it... of course I bought it.

Seattle to San Francisco to Pacific Grove

Day 1: travel & crash day :) The house we are in is fabulous. As soon as we got the keys mom crashed and I hit the store for first night supplies. Top to bottom: Mount Ranier as I fly out of Seattle. Unicorn Barf cowl, now finished. Clouds rolling in over San Francisco from the Bay. Lovers Point in PG last night and again this morning.

Mom & Me Time

Less than 24 hours and I'll be San Francisco bound for a long blissful week with mom. By Thursday I'll be posting that the week was way to short. It's true. We're both giddy with the excitement of this upcoming vacation together. We see each other a lot but it's really only once a year that we get time with just each other and we look forward to it.

Picture of the Week

Taken on Camano Island. My MIL's neighbors have two adorable grandchildren who collect treasures on the beach every weekend they are up there. I discovered this sweet little collection after kayaking. The army truck and whole crab are my faves. Happy Friday. Oh and to the person who hacked our credit card... Nice try. This girl has never worn any Michael Korrs ladies wear.

WIP it Wednesday

It's trying to be a regular post but sometimes having this much going on gets, well, a little overwhelming/embarrassing. Clockwise from the top: Unicorn Barf patter by Kate Ray in Good n' Plenty colorway by Fancy Image Yarn. Flora's Cap from Churchmouse Yarn & Tea. Angora Fibers In Seahawks colors. Shaken or Stirred by Thea Coleman in Cascade 220 in navy. Kidwarmers by Cari Luna in Birthday Party color dyed by Amanda of Amanda's Art yarn. At least two of these are are coming to California with me... The Cardigan because I have 3.5 weeks to make a huge dent if not finish it for our America's Knitting KAL! Then probably the cap, cowl, and leg warmers... Yeah yeah They're all coming with. None will get knit. I'll hit Monarch Knitting, probably lose my mind and start something brand new. Don't act surprised. ;-)

Four Days

8.5 hours A gazillion minutes and seconds Till I fly off to San Francisco to grab mom at the baggage carousel, toss her in the rental car and whisk us both down the coast to Pacific Grove for our annual mother daughter girls extravaganza. We rented a home thru AirB&B for the whole week people. A week. Of me and mom all by ourselves. We're both pretty giddy at the prospect. Not only will we be in PG, our favorite place in the world. We rented a beautiful home, right by the WATER, aka the Pacific Ocean, and it's a house that we have driven by every year and dream about owning for ourselves. *swoon* I have a lot of ideas of stuff for us to do... many include just walking by the water, sitting by the water, drinking by the water, napping by the water, eating by the water. Monarch Knitting is literally three blocks away from where we'll be staying. I suspect I'll be spending a ridiculous amount of time in the shop. There is a farmers market on Monda...

Operation Pom Pom: The Finale

There is a lot of excitement that goes into a 2 year olds birthday party. The planning The invites The food The gift buying and making. The expectation that your gift will be the one that makes her forget all the rest. Except you forget, the recipient is 2 and is having gobs of gifts and sugar thrown at her and trying to process it all at once. I was in charge of pictures. I took a lot of pictures. I also made sure my gift was last. She dug her hands right into that box of PomPoms with a sweet little grin on her face. Perfect. It was all I expected and more. I also gave her her sweater, a seuss book about sharks, her cowl and her baby shark earrings. She opened those before everyone came over and she loved the baby shark earrings. Wanted them put in immediately and wanted to show everyone. It was a great day. I'm so lucky that little peanut and I get to be apart of each others lives. Rock on Bean PomPom fight at Nana & Papa's next time...
